Hygrophorus marginatus var. olivaceus Smith & Hesler Cap 2.5-4cm across, cone-shaped becoming bell-shaped, then flatter with a sharp umbo; olive orange-brown to deep olive but paler orange near the margin; smooth and moist with a translucent, striate margin. Gills ascending adnate, close to subdistant, broad; dark yellowy orange. Stem 30-50 x 2-10mm, very fragile becoming hollow; yellowy green becoming paler; smooth. Flesh thin, fragile; dull greeny gray. Odor mild. Taste mild. Spores subellipsoid, nonamyloid, 6.5-8 x 4-6ì. Deposit white. Habitat singly on decayed conifer wood. Frequent. Found in eastern and western North America. Season July-September. Edibility not known. |
